Accommodations

Payload Specialties offers sufficient accommodations to our customers / participants of a sounding rocket launch campaign. Mobile facilities (overnight stays) with clean benches, laminar flow benches, microscopes, centrifuges, autoclaves; incubators, etc are available with contract. This will enable the investigative team to perform pre and final flight preparation, it will also allow for post flight analysis.

Flight/Experimenter Control

Except for centralized data transmissions by telemetry, each experiment-dedicated module is autonomous regarding power, electronics, and data processing. A Sounding Rocket experiment is typically accommodated on a circular platform with a useable diameter of 115mm to 300mm respectively. This platform is mounted onto the cylindrical external structure by means of elastic dampers that reduce the impact of launch vibrations. The Service Module, lower surfaces of the decks, are normally; control electronics, data handling, flight computers and power supplies. Upper decks will carry programmable electronics timers to operate each experiment. All experimental modules will link to the telemetry system viva serial interface located on the lower deck known as the Service Module.

Tele-Science

Each experiment is connected to the telemetry system, which transmits the data to the ground, but on board recording is possible. The experiments can be observed with standard black & white, color and/or infrared cameras; these images are set to the ground receive station real time. Also a real time control of your experiment, so called tele-science can be achieved by means of a telecomm and uplink. In flight observation of events via television combined with on board recording enable the experimenter to follow the course of their experiment. With the telecomm system, you can direct the process from the ground in response to the actual behavior of the system being investigated

Consumer Payload

Offering payload space to the general public is quite unique, have an item of interest poised in a display cabinet, a model rocket, poster, figurine, business card, tie etc. have it launched into space. Make your items even more of a conversation piece. Prices vary and are determined by size and weight.

Payload Integration

Preparing an experiment or cargo for flight in a sounding rocket can be an  overwhelming task , hardware selections, power supplies and safety are operational considerations.
Our payload modules are designed specifically for your experiment needs for integrating and supporting the experiment during flight.  A standard  pricing model is based upon level of service requested. Discounts are available for multi launch contracts, and educational institutions. Additionally, we are able to provide volume pricing for partial or entire utilization of our payload modules i.e. complete payload platform and module or any combination.  . Details of the experiment's  selected hardware required for integration are presented to the customer as part of the contracting process.

Testing

Payload Specialties owns or has available a gamma of testing equipment for opportunities in: planning, design, conduct, analysis, engineering, laboratories, analysis and so on. Have an experiment, project, or technology requiring highly specialized or unique testing equipment? Our partners at White Sands Missile Range (WSMR) have agreed to offer services to us at a reasonable rate much lower then if you negotiate directly.

Launch Facilitator

Payload Specialties can act as your launch facilitator. We can establish the proper protocol (operations and safety procedures) to successfully launch your privately developed sounding rocket. Payload Specialties will review all applicable data pertaining to your launch vehicle "end to end design review" and qualify your launch vehicle for flight. These services are limited to professional organizations and universities, some exceptions apply.

Space Funeral Services

Space Funeral Services will  primarily by orchestrated by Heavenly Journeys.

Heavenly Journeys is honored to offer a new 21st Century tradition of ceremony and celebration of life, the respectful and dignified flight of cremated remains into space utilizing Payload Specialties launch vehicles. Following cremation, your loved one's ashes will travel into space in a specially designed memorial space flight urn. You may choose space burial where the ashes will be scattered across the heavens, or you may choose to have the cremated remains of your loved one returned safely to Earth. Whichever option you choose, the space flight urn is given to you as a lasting memorial of your loved one's journey into space. Space flight rockets will depart from the pristine desert Space Port in New Mexico and Nevada where families are invited to view the rocket launch.
