SCION Launch Vehicle


GENERAL INFO

The Scion is a single-stage solid propellant sounding rocket developed by Payload Specialties Inc. It is typically a 3 fin launch vehicle, however a 4 fin launch vehicle is available. This launch vehicle is being outfitted for liquid fuel and will be soon be available in this format.

VEHICLE PERFORMANCE

The Scion rocket motor produces an average of 2,700 pounds for 5.33 seconds. The primary diameter of Scion is 6.0"  and 140" long. It can carry a 20lb payload to 65,000ft. in its 5.5"x24" payload bay, other payload configurations available. max acceleration 18g's.

TYPICAL USE

Scion is an introductory launch vehicle for student education, and light military targeting. Some consumer/commercial applications.

PIPERR-8 Launch Vehicle


GENERAL INFO

The Piperr-8 is a single-stage solid propellant sounding rocket developed by Payload Specialties Inc. It is typically a 3 fin launch vehicle, however a 4 fin launch vehicle is available. This launch vehicle is being outfitted for liquid fuel and will be soon be available in this format.


VEHICLE PERFORMANCE

The Piperr-8 rocket motor produces an average of 5,985 pounds for 6.75 seconds. The primary diameter of Piperr-8 is 8.0"  and 211" long. It can carry a 40lb payload to 145,000ft. in its 7.75"x24" payload bay, other payload configurations available. max acceleration 22g's.

CARRIER SAT  (Space Access Transport) Launch Vehicle

GENERAL INFO

The Carrier SAT is a single-stage solid propellant sounding rocket developed by Payload Specialties Inc. This vehicle is currently testing an Attitude Control System (ACS) (not yet available). It is typically a 4 fin launch vehicle.

VEHICLE PERFORMANCE

The Carrier SAT rocket motor produces an average of 9,534 pounds for 6.25 seconds. The primary diameter of Carrier SAT is 10"  and 280" long. It can  carry a 100lb payload  in its 9.5"x72" payload bay, other payload configurations available. max acceleration 26g's.

TYPICAL USE

The Carrier SAT vehicle is an excellent opportunity for higher education students, graduate work, military targeting consumer /commercial applications and professional research work.

The Freedom SAT 1 is currently in development.

GENERAL INFO

The Freedom SAT 1.3 is currently in development.

VEHICLE PERFORMANCE

Know at this time.  Approximant primary diameter 16", Attitude Control System (ACS), payloads ranging from 100lbs to 1,500 lbs, max altitude of 150km/93mi, approximant average thrust of 15,000 to 20,000 pounds. Other data to be released upon development.
